From the book Madison County Homes, A Collection of Pre-Civil War Homes and Family Heritage by Vee Dove we find this bit of history on a house that was once owned by James Ford, son of Benjamin Ford and Elizabeth Leavell. Also, our Germanna lines connect with the Wilhoits, Gaars, Carpenters and Criglers, so many relatives may have visited this house at one time or another:

From the Madison County Will Book 4, page 374, we find the 1825 will of John Ford mentioning his second wife Roseanne and his various children. This will has a classic beginning of a will from this time period where he states, "I recommend my Soul to Almighty God and my body to be buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter mentioned."
